A New Chapter of Elegance at The Phoenicia Malta

The Phoenicia Malta, one of the most distinguished hotels in Malta and the only LHW hotel on the island, has entered an exciting new era with the refurbishment of its guestrooms and corridors. The redesign blends the hotel’s historic architecture with a fresh, contemporary touch that reflects the island’s natural beauty and cultural heritage.

As part of this refurbishment, we will launch new Signature Rooms which will be available for booking as from January 24th, 2026. A key focus of the project was to preserve the essence of our iconic landmark. Original features such as terrazzo flooring have been retained to honour the building’s character and maintain its strong sense of place. The new interiors feel lighter, more refined, and unmistakably Maltese, with natural materials such as light oak, Emperador marble, and travertine adding warmth and timeless appeal.

Soft neutral tones create an atmosphere of calm, while textiles introduce gentle hints of colour inspired by Malta’s surroundings. Shades drawn from the Mediterranean Sea, the island’s limestone, and Valletta’s architecture connect the rooms to the landscape beyond.

A highlight of the refurbishment is the bespoke collection of Mdina Glass plates featured throughout the rooms and corridors. These handcrafted pieces celebrate Malta’s long glassmaking tradition and add an authentic cultural touch. In the guestrooms, a woven headboard detail brings a natural layer of texture influenced by the hotel’s lush gardens.
