Contessa is our landmark restaurant, named in honour of Countess Margaret Strickland. As our co-founder, it was her 1930s vision that brought The Phoenicia Malta to life as the island’s first luxury hotel.

Continuing her legacy of elegant distinction and ours for culinary excellence, Contessa offers an experience that merges five-star dining with Maltese soul.

The menu mirrors Malta’s seasons, suggesting an innovative take on Southern Mediterranean cuisine rooted in local produce, spurred by imagination. Delight in the theatre of signature cocktails and fresh tiramisu, expertly crafted tableside from golden trolleys.

Our botanical garden-inspired terrace conservatory – glass-enclosed for year-round comfort – opens onto panoramic views across seven acres of lush gardens. Indulge in a slow, lingering dining experience, set against a Mediterranean blue sky by day and, by evening, a Maltese sunset fading to starlight over the Valletta bastions.
